About The Band

'HoneyBoy Dupree & The Smokehouse Players' has been described as one of the most important blues bands of today- a force in the music scene that is turning out original music for a new generation of Blues fans. All of this talk is backed up by their stellar live show; this aint no corporate studio band. Cutting through all of the buzz surrounding HB, one discovers that their notable strength lies in an effortless ability to transfer emotion and to communicate with any crowd- not just Blues lovers. Best of all, their success comes without compromise, gimmicks, or musical crossover.

As the surprise winner of the 2001 Blues Showdown, HoneyBoy turned heads with judges in the face of solid competition from serious veterans of the valley. HB went on to captivate audiences at the International Blues Challenge; a prestigious annual event held in Memphis, TN. Notably, it was the local Phoenix fans that paved the way to Memphis with their generous donations at several benefit concerts held in the area. The momentum and support for this band are real. 100 years of combined musical experience must have paid off.
